Who is a candidate for the High Performance Healing System™?
One who has been suffering from low back pain or neck pain, especially severe and chronic, may benefit from the High Performance Healing System™. Some of the common causes of severe back pain and neck pain that Back Clinics of Canada treats are bulging and/or herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, spinal arthritis, stenosis, sciatica, mild spondylolisthesis, joint facet syndrome, and nerve problems.
Many of our patients have had unsuccessful care with physiotherapists, chiropractors, medication, injections, massage therapists and acupuncturists, and come to us for help.
The majority of patients complete care with excellent results. A common phrase we hear is “I wish I would have come in to see you first!” Definitely look into the High Performance Healing System™ before you consider surgery.
I’ve tried just about everything. What is different about this care?
Many of the patients we see have tried a myriad of other treatments. Some have even had failed back surgery. It’s natural that people are skeptical. Here are some important things to understand about the High Performance Healing System™ offered at Back Clinics of Canada:
1. Care is non-surgical, non-invasive and drug-free.
2. The care specifically targets and delivers healing forces to the damaged disc. This is not a band-aid solution. It supports the healing of damaged connective tissue (discs are made of connective tissue), reduces pain and inflammation at the source of the problem, and allows the possibility of true, long lasting freedom from pain.
3. The patient selection process at Back Clinics of Canada is specific and rigorous to ensure only the most appropriate qualified candidates are accepted for care.
4. Many back and neck pain patients who receive care at our back pain clinic, including those who are long-term chronic or post-surgical cases, are able to resume normal activities.
Who is not a candidate for the High Performance Healing System™?
Speak with Dr. Nusbaum, and allow him to determine whether or not you are a candidate for care. Many patients who come to Back Clinics of Canada think they have done everything possible to get rid of their pain and have no options left. After a free, no-obligation consultation/examination, they learn they are suited to receive treatment. Weeks later they walk out pain free.
How do I know if I qualify for the High Performance Healing System™?
Dr. Nusbaum will hold a consultation with you. At this time he will discuss your problem and create a detailed health picture. Dr. Nusbaum looks closely at past health history, current health state, reports and previous health tests including any X-Rays, MRIs and CT-scans.
Then Dr. Nusbaum conducts a comprehensive examination. He performs an orthopaedic test, nerve test and muscle test, as well as a computerized non-needle surface EMG-nerve scan test, all of which are non-invasive and painless.
All this information is compiled and carefully considered by Dr. Nusbaum to determine if you are a good candidate for care. If you are, then he will draw up a treatment plan for you.
I have had surgery on my spine. Is the High Performance Healing System™ still effective?
Unfortunately, there are patients who undergo spinal surgery and still have pain. In fact, we regularly see patients in our clinic who have had failed back surgery. In many cases, a post-surgical patient can still qualify for care providing they don’t have metal implants or fusions.
How does this treatment work and why is it so effective?
There are several components to the system. At the core is a powerful combination of non-surgical spinal decompression, class IV K-laser therapy and Disc Renewal Plus™ supplementation system. While any one of these treatments alone can help with pain relief, Dr. Nusbaum has found the combination of treatments is able to deliver true, targeted, robust accelerated healing.
Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression is designed to apply specifically calculated decompression forces to the area of the spine where the cause of the problem is. These forces increase the damaged disc space, creating negative pressure — like a vacuum — inside the disc. This vacuum effect rehydrates the disc by allowing water and nutrients to draw back into the disc. It allows the disc to increase in height and simultaneously draw back and heal disc bulges and herniations in the same way. As the rehydration and disc healing takes place, pressure on the nerve is reduced and nerve healing takes place.
Class IV K-Laser therapy is currently the most powerful, effective laser therapy available. Back Clinics of Canada is the first back pain clinic in Canada to offer Class IV K-Laser Therapy. It is a medical breakthrough in therapeutic laser technology.
Disc renewal Plus™ nutritional supplementation is a proprietary system developed by Dr. Nusbaum to boost healing at the cellular level. This is only available to Back Clinics of Canada patients.
How does non-surgical Spinal Decompression treatment differ from ordinary spinal traction?
Traction is a procedure that stretches your spine with a non-specific generalized force. It is unable to target its effects to a specific disc. As well, the general, non-specific characteristics of traction make it unable to create the magnitude of healing forces necessary to repair a damaged disc. Also, with traction the body naturally pulls in the opposite direction of the traction forces, which can trigger painful muscle spasms.
Non-surgical Spinal Decompression is a medically tested breakthrough technology that is capable of focusing up to 90 percent of the healing forces of true decompression to the single specific area of damage. Decompression forces are individually calculated for each person. The Spinal Decompression systems used at Back Clinics of Canada have a patented feedback system which constantly monitors and adjusts the motor’s activity to the patient’s response to the care, ensuring a pain-free experience.
Is the care painful?
It is not painful. In fact, many patients find it to be relaxing. The system is very quiet. You can watch a video, listen to a CD, read a book, or even nap during treatment. After a session, some patients may feel a slight tenderness, similar to that which you would feel after working out in the gym.
Will this care permanently fix the problem, or are the results temporary?
The technology behind the High Performance Healing System™ was designed and developed to correct the problem (i.e. the source of your pain), not mask your symptoms temporarily. Unless you injure yourself or re-damage your spine, you should not have to undergo treatment again. In some cases, the doctor may recommend maintenance care. It all depends upon the individual.
Why do medical doctors not know about this technology?
They may know. The technology has been around for several years. But it also falls outside the realm of traditional medicine, as it corrects the problem without drugs or surgery. Doctors are always learning about new medications and surgical procedures, usually from pharmaceutical and surgical companies. Class IV K-laser and non-surgical Spinal Decompression may not show up on their radar screen. Even so, many doctors do refer patients to us. And many doctors receive care themselves.
Do I need a referral from my family doctor?
No referral is necessary to come to Back Clinics of Canada. You may call directly to schedule a consultation.
Many patients have already seen their doctor for their severe back and neck pain, and they may have X-rays, an MRI, or a CT-Scan. We ask that every prospective patient bring these to the consultation appointment, if they have such reports.
If I undergo care at Back Clinics of Canada, how long does it take to see results?
Most patients find their pain is less after the first few sessions. Typically, significant improvement is obtained by the second week of treatment.
How long does it take to complete a program of care?
A typical program can include up to 20 treatment sessions, scheduled over a five-week period. This will vary from patient to patient. Dr. Nusbaum designs a specific treatment program for each patient, based on that person’s individual needs, to help them achieve top results.
Are there any side effects to the treatment?
There are no known side-effects. Some patients feel a slight achiness after a treatment session, similar to a muscle ache you might feel after a good workout. That’s all!
Is there any risk to the patient undergoing care of the High Performance Healing System™?
There are no risks associated with care. The High Performance Healing System™ is safe and comfortable. The non-surgical spinal decompression system used at Back Clinics of Canada has a computerized feedback system that continuously monitors and adjusts the decompression forces throughout a session. These adjustments occur in response to many factors, including the body’s response to the forces. This ensures that the patient’s treatment is pain-free and precise in its performance and delivery. Also, our system features ambient lighting to illuminate the foot platform. This makes it safer and easier for a patient to find their footing when they exit off the machine after a treatment session has been completed.
Can I continue to work while I’m undergoing care?
Many of our patients continue to work while receiving care. In the event your work requires you to perform physically stressful activities, discuss this with Dr. Nusbaum so he can recommend the best way to perform your work tasks.
Is Back Clinics of Canada care covered by OHIP, WSIB, or ODSP?
Our care is not covered by OHIP, WSIB or ODSP. We are a private clinic. Patients pay for their care. If you have extended group insurance, a portion of your care may be covered by your extended health insurance program. The majority of our patients tell us that they do receive reimbursements.
