Excited About My Recent Purchase

wheelbarrow

A wheelbarrow is essential for gardening without back pain!

A wheelbarrow! Yes. Why? Because now I’m not carrying pounds of soil and seed on my back. Some years ago, I thought nothing of picking up and carrying 40lb sacks around my yard. I could take it. The post-landscaping ache was my badge of honour. But these days I’m older and wiser. Yard work can be back-breaking, spine-straining work that results in bulging or herniated discs, muscle spasms, low back pain and neck pain. I’m doing what I can to avoid going there.

I want to enjoy the fruits of my labour, on a lounge chair with a cold beer. I don’t want to be on the couch breathless in pain.

I have big plans for the yard this year. So I bought a wheelbarrow. Weeding, distributing new soil and reseeding took a little longer than planned; I had to transfer more, smaller loads around our property. But I got my kids to help out. I walked a lot more. I didn’t strain or twist my back.

Hard work. Pain free. Wondering why I didn’t buy a wheelbarrow years ago. And the best part is, I feel good enough to shoot hoops with my son afterwards. Something that wouldn’t have happened in the past.
