Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression

What Is Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression?

Spinal Decompression is a non-surgical, non-invasive, drug-free, and painless treatment for low back and neck pain due to damaged spinal discs. An innovative and highly effective approach to healing, the spinal decompression method at Back Clinics of Canada uses the DRX9000™ and SpineMed spinal decompression machines – considered by most doctors as best in class, cutting edge technology known for its precision accuracy, effectiveness, and patient comfort at its core.

How Does Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Work?

Treating one disc at a time, spinal decompression gently stretches the vertebrae surrounding the damaged disc. This stretching creates a vacuum (suction force) which reduces disc bulges and herniations and improves the disc height by drawing water, oxygen, and nutrients back into the damaged disc. The effect of this highly targeted stretching reduces pressure on the adjacent nerves, improving mobility and most importantly creates pain relief.

What To Expect From Spinal Decompression Procedure?

Every patient undergoing spinal decompression, lies fully clothed on a comfortable padded bed on one of our many decompression machines for 25 minutes. During the procedure, you can relax, sleep, enjoy soothing music or watch Netflix on a large screen monitor with wireless headphones. Patients are expertly prepared, assisted and accurately positioned onto the decompression bed mattress, with their head and knees comfortably supported on a pillow. The patient’s upper and lower body are comfortably secured with a harness to the machine. The on-board computer monitors and continuously adjusts the patient-specific decompression forces, tailored to ensure that patients receive painless and safe healing care while you relax and experience the healing forces of the decompression.
Each spinal decompression session is approximately 23 minutes long.

Spinal Decompression VS. Traction: What’s More Effective?

Spinal Decompression, in contrast to the antiquated traction method, works by targeting the individual damaged disc with painless and controlled stretching. The spinal decompression advanced technology, we use at Back Clinics of Canada, relieves pressure on the spine by targeting a precise location, a single disc that requires care, as opposed to stretching a larger area of the spine, as done via traction. It is the precision, enabled by the system and computer program of the revolutionary DRX9000™ and SpineMed decompression machines, along with Dr. Ron Nusbaum’s expert delivery and supervision of the treatment that makes our spinal decompression highly effective.

Watch Dr. Ron Nusbaum, the Founder and Director of Back Clinics of Canada, explain how spinal decompression works to alleviate lower back and neck pain and what to expect from a typical session.

L
On-board Entertainment System -

An on-board CD/DVD and patented Liquid Mind (R) relaxation media entertainment system, with angled viewing screen and headphones, provide comfort and relaxation for a pleasurable experience during care.

L

Advanced Computer Monitoring System -

The internal computer continuously monitors your body’s response to treatment and automatically adjusts itself for maximum effectiveness and comfort.

L

Motorized Lift System -

A linear actuator motorized lift system slowly tilts the decompression bed from an upright to a horizontal position, and back again. The patient can easily and comfortably get on and off from a standing position.

L

Cervical Disc Selector Controls -

The doctor precisely chooses the exact cervical disc requiring care with the disc selector controls. This control enables highly specific and robust disc healing.

L

Ambient Foot Lighting -

This feature illuminates the foot platform, making it safer and easier for patients to exit the system after care.

L

Comfortable Smooth Moving Components -

Comfortable, smooth moving components assure the decompression forces are delivered most effectively, while making the patients as comfortable as possible.

L

Bed Separation for Enhanced Decompression -

During a decompression session, the bed automatically and slowly separates, 2 to 3 inches. This enhances the effect of decompression forces to the damaged discs — causing greater disc healing capacity.

L

Shoulder Support and Knee Rest -

Padded shoulder support and knee rest pillows improve the patient’s position and comfort while under care.

L

Harnessing System -

The remarkable harnessing system accurately positions and holds the patient’s spine in the correct position, maximizing comfort and healing.

L

Shoulder Support and Knee Rest -

Padded shoulder support and knee rest pillows improve the patient’s position and comfort while under care.

L

Comfortable Patient Positioning -

Patients rest comfortably on their back, with their knees elevated by a knee pillow. This posture allows patients to experience maximum comfort during each session.

L

Lumbar Disc Selector Controls -

The doctor precisely chooses the exact lumbar disc requiring care with the disc selector controls. Such control enables the patient to experience highly specific and robust disc healing.
