The epitome of misery is persistent chronic back pain. It sucks the life energy out of you by denying enjoyment of those things you like to do and preventing you from efficiently doing those things you must do. Ask any sufferer, including myself, how it feels to watch yourself morph into a couch potato, become dependent on others to perform simple chores, and give up those activities you always look forward to. And, of course, there is always the ever present discomfort which in a moment’s notice can become the unbearable pain of a back spasm. You complain to your physician. Degenerative discs in the lumbar region are diagnosed. He is not enthusiastic about chiropractic treatment and prescribes exercise, physiotherapy, a back brace and painkillers. They do nothing but make you ask for more and stronger drugs. The spectre of back surgery surfaces and you hear all the horror stories from your friends and relatives about failed operations. In my case I decided to live with it over the past 10 years, but in the last 12 months it had became progressively worse, often reaching the stage of pure agony. For some time I had listened to the advertisements about decompression therapy and thought the process seemed to make sense. Again my physician was lukewarm to the idea, but at least the procedure, based on my research, was not invasive. There was nothing to lose so I booked for the free consultation at Back Clinics of Canada. Dr. Ron Nusbaum, the Clinic Director, explained that not everyone was a candidate for decompression therapy and stated that he would only proceed if he felt there was a high probability of success. After a number of tests, he concluded that my condition was one that would respond to the treatment. I signed up for the program which included the decompression procedure and treatment with the Class IV K-Laser. The sessions were easy and painless. However it is not a simple quick fix. There is a degree of self discipline required to follow the program. In my case there were periods of progression and some regression. I was surprised to discover that the program does not end just because the schedule was completed. If you need more treatments (as I did) they insist you take them (no extra charge or fuss). So here I am three months after starting the program, completely pain free! Dr. Ron says he has a success rate of around 95%. I believe him! Thanks for giving my life back Dr. Ron!
